Who we are
Muze Studios (“we”, “us”) is a software studio working from London, United Kingdom and South Africa. We are responsible for the personal data collected through themuzestudios.com.
For anything in this policy, email hello@themuzestudios.com. A person on the team reads it, and we reply within the working day.
What we collect
We only collect what you give us, plus limited technical data needed to run the site.
When you send a brief
Your name, email address and message, and optionally your company, phone number, what you need and your timeline.
When you download a guide
Your name and email address, and optionally your company, plus which guide you asked for.
When you subscribe to our notes
Your email address.
When you browse
Aggregate, cookieless traffic data (pages viewed, referrer, country, device type). If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect usage events such as pages visited and buttons clicked, linked to a random identifier rather than your name. See the cookie policy.
We don't ask for, and don't want, special category data (health, beliefs and so on) through this website.
Why we use it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your brief and talking about a possible engagement | Steps at your request before entering a contract; our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries |
| Sending the guide you asked for | Performing the request you made |
| Sending our notes and occasional updates | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link |
| Understanding how the site is used (with cookies) | Your consent through the cookie banner |
| Keeping the site secure and working | Our legitimate interest in running a reliable website |
International transfers
Several providers above are based outside the UK and South Africa, mainly in the United States. Where data leaves those countries, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses, or on the provider's certification under the UK–US data bridge, as applicable.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become an engagement: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Client records: for the length of the engagement and as long afterwards as tax and contract law require.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data: according to each provider's retention settings, and never longer than needed.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, and under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
- delete it, where we have no reason to keep it;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including for direct marketing;
- move it to another provider in a usable format;
- withdraw consent you've given, at any time, without affecting what happened before.
Email hello@themuzestudios.com. We'll respond within one month, and we won't charge unless a request is clearly excessive.
Complaints
We'd like the chance to fix things first — email hello@themuzestudios.com. You can also complain to a regulator:
- United Kingdom: the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk
- South Africa: the Information Regulator, inforegulator.org.za
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to reply, and our providers encrypt data in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
Children
This website is for businesses. It isn't aimed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes affecting subscribers will also be emailed.
